Best Places to Visit in Cambodia: An Insider’s Guide
Most guests of Travel Agent Hanoi enjoy our main course with a holiday to Vietnam. But, on occasion, some guests like to have a side order of Cambodia too. On this page we will delve deep into different locations throughout Cambodia as per our very own map below. This is to show you what is possible for a side trip to Cambodia, or indeed inspiration for a much larger trip next time.
Simon, of Travel Agent Hanoi has been to some of these locations and will add in his experiences too. So, starting with the ancient ruins of Siem Reap in the north & the hiking trails of Mondulkiri in the east. To the Irrawaddy dolphins of Kratie and paradise on the islands of Koh Rong in the south.
We dive into detail about what to see and do and hidden gems in each location.

Siem Reap - A sunrise at Angkor is a must, but don't stop there. Check out our list of less known temples to visit nearby.
Tonle Sap - See the floating villages on this huge freshwater lake as part of your time in Siem Reap.
Battambang - A chilled out place with a bamboo train and old French buildings.
Phnom Penh - A tough visit to see the killing fields and S21 prison, but a must.
Kampong Cham - Real Cambodia at this riverside town. This is where a bamboo bridge is rebuilt every year after floods!
Kratie - Up the river away from the crowds & see the Irrawaddy dolphins.
Mondulkiri - Into the highlands to the Elephant sanctuaries and a spot of hiking.
Kampot - A laid back atmosphere & pepper farms!
Kep - Ruined French villas and a crab market for the best in Cambodia.
Koh Rong - White sandy beaches, no traffic, simply paradise.
