North Vietnam Countryside Retreats

Day 1: Arrive in Hanoi – Private Food Tour – Hotel (D)

Our driver will be standing outside Arrival Hall Lobby A1 with the Travel Agent Hanoi logo (as above) on a signboard. (Please take note that there are two arrival lobbies A1 & A2). Once you have made contact with our driver, he will then proceed to take you directly to your hotel.

At 3.45pm I will meet you at your hotel and take you on my famous private food tour of Hanoi. You will taste some of the best street food Hanoi has to offer, with dishes originating from all over Vietnam. You will see street stalls and restaurants not usually frequented by western tourists, but locals enjoying their dinner break with genuine Vietnamese food.

Walking down market streets & narrow alleys, past Hanoian businesses that have been trading for generations, you will also get a true feeling of the culture of Hanoi.

With 7 dishes including a dessert and bottle of water, you most certainly won’t need much more for the rest of the evening.

Day 2: Private Hanoi City Tour – Hotel (B,L)

We will begin this package with a trip around Hanoi, so at least you get to know the real City before you head off to your relaxing retreats.

At 8am you will be picked up by your private tour guide and taken on a full day’s trip around the busy streets of Vietnams capital, Hanoi. First, you will visit the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum (check opening days) where Uncle Ho himself resides and then on to the museum next door where many historical artefacts lie. You will then move on to Ho Chi Minhs stilt house and to the one pillar pagoda lying on the other side.

After lunch you will then move on to the Temple of Literature and Vietnams first University and its glorious gardens. Heading towards Hoan Kiem Lake where you will then see the red bridge and Ngoc Son Temple. After this you will then either take in a performance of the Water Puppet Show or a cyclo ride around the Old Quarter before finishing your day advised on where best to eat in Hanoi’s famous Old Quarter.

Day 3: Private Mai Chau – Eco Lodge (B)

Today you will be collected by private driver and taken to your Eco resort in Mai Chau, nestled in the depths of the Mai Chau Valleys with rice fields and rising mountains all around.

A sublime location to sit on your terrace or by the swimming pool to take in the nature that surrounds you.

Day 4: Free time in Mai Chau – Eco Lodge (B)

Today is your chance to take out the bicycle on offer at your resort and head out in to the local villages to explore their local customs and businesses. Maybe you will find the chopstick factory, the silk scarf and rug market on your way. Or even if you venture further in to the countryside you will spot the waterfalls with local children playing as nature had intended.

Day 5: Private Pu Luong – Hillside retreat (B)

This morning after breakfast and checking out of your suite, you have a time to relax before the next step in your countryside tour of North Vietnam. Our driver will collect you and take you on a scenic route to Pu Luong National Park and to the next destination on your trip.

Pu Luong retreat is set in glorious surroundings with absolutely stunning scenery all around. This is just one beautiful destination you would be the envy of all your friends and family.

Once you have checked in to your private suite, you can explore the beautiful grounds and maybe sit by the infinity pool overlooking some of the best views Vietnam has to offer.

Day 6: Private Pu Luong – Valley Retreat (B)

Begin the day with a tasty breakfast before heading out to explore the famous water wheels of Pu Luong. Get up close to them and study how water is moved from the river to the handmade bamboo aqueducts via traditional construction. It will amaze you and give you unique photo opportunities. You may even be lucky enough to see the farmers with their water buffalo walking through the river.

Next, you will meet at a local fisherman’s house, before starting your rafting adventure, floating along the calm river and enjoying the views whilst learning the rafting techniques of paddling and steering.

Arriving at scenic Tan Lap bridge, you will then be transferred back to Pu Luong Retreat for dinner.

Day 7: Private Tam Coc – Hang Mua – Eco Garden Resort (B,L)

Today we will head towards Tam Coc National Park but travelling along some gorgeous scenic roads in Pu Luong before arriving at Tam Coc and then to enjoy an afternoon of stunning scenery. Firstly, we will take a rowing boat along the snaking canal and in and out of the famous 3 caves of Tam Coc.

After this we will cycle ride amongst the local villages and witness the daily lives of these farmers and their traditional ways.

We then head to the hill at Hang Mua to see the most spectacular panoramic views of all Tam Coc. You will then be transferred to your Eco Garden resort nestled in between the limestone karsts by the lake for the evening.

Day 8: Private transfer to Hanoi – Hotel (B)

After a morning of relaxation and checking out of your bungalow, you will be collected by our private driver at 12pm and taken back to Hanoi.

Day 9: Luxury Bus to Sapa – Private transfer – Eco Lodge (B)
At 7am, our driver will collect you from your Hotel in the Eco Luxury bus to take you to Sapa Town. This is a 9 seater luxury bus with very comfortable leather seats, with USB port and Wi-Fi on-board. You will make a couple of stops on the way to Sapa and arrive in Sapa town around 1pm.

You will then be collected by your private driver and driven to your Eco Resort in the minority hills of Sapa.

Day 10: Free time – Eco Resort (B)

Staying in your very own private bungalow with terrace out front with tremendous panoramic views across the valleys of the minority villages and rice terraces that cascade down like giant steps.

This is truly a magical place to relax and wind down from the epic adventure you took through the North East.

Day 11: Private trek Hoa Muong Valley – Eco Resort (B,L)

After breakfast at Eco Palms House, around 9:30AM your tour will start by trekking down the beautiful Muong Hoa Valley and Centre of Lao Chai Village, an established Hmong minority village which has been inhabited for centuries. Here you will have the opportunity to see products of this minority at its best with hereditary rice terraces, homes and a vibrant community.

Ascending to the other side, which is home to Black Hmong minorities. Weather permitting you will enjoy stunning views across the valley with mountains and rice terraces as far as the eye can see. Continuing on to Ta Van Village you will visit the Giay minority people.

This group traditionally fished for a living and as a result established themselves close to rivers. They have mastered the art of fishing with bamboo rods and cook the fish inside bamboo. Nowadays however you are more likely to see the Dzay working in hospitality. Continue to walk through lush bamboo forests to Giang Ta Chai, enjoy a small natural waterfall then walk to the main road and catch transport back to Eco Palms House.

Day 12: Luxury bus to Hanoi – Hotel (B)

Today is your morning of relaxation while checking out the views across the stunning cascading terraces before having lunch at the resorts restaurant, then taking the private transfer to Sapa Town at 2pm to collect your onward bus to Hanoi.

At 3pm - 3.30pm, our driver will collect you from the Panorama Hotel in the Eco Luxury bus to take you back to Hanoi. This is a 9 seater luxury bus with very comfortable leather seats, with USB port and Wi-Fi on-board.

You will make a couple of stops on the way to Hanoi, the second one where you can opt to have a hot meal at the restaurant. Arriving in Hanoi around 9.30pm - 10pm, so you can check in to the hotel.

Day 13: Private transfer to airport (B)

Today you can relax after an epic journey and maybe pick up some gifts for friends and family before our driver will collect you and take you to the airport for your awaiting flight home.

A4. Please check the weather for the time of year you arrive, or ask us on booking, we can advise on what you will need. But usually hat, sun cream, insect repellent are advisable necessities. You can buy cheap throwaway raincoats if it gets wet.
